Cabin Fever Handicraft

Contrary to when my online footprint would suggest, I have been making art almost every day.

I’ve stuck to my daily collage practice and even filled one of my 5 journals.

I’ve been working on a couple workshop ideas. The first is a Mystery History book.

And the second is an intro to Suminagashi.

I attended Focus on Book Arts in Monmouth OR and had a blast. I took a workshop from the amazing paper engineer Shawn Sheehy. I’ve been wanting to add more dimension to my books and this introductory class was just what I needed.

I’ve been matting and framing lots of my own artwork. I’ve decided it’s silly not to fill our home with the things I love so I’m hanging everything. More on this in a future post!

Which has led to learning to mount my collages on cradled panels. I love it!

I have been evaluating my practice for a while now (since the move to Oregon) and I’ve come to the conclusion that I want to focus on community more than product. I want to gather, share, learn, teach, host and make! I’m refining processes to some of my favorite techniques and projects. You’ll be seeing more videos, as I practice my art as well as my presentation.

My new motto is:

Make Art

Spread Joy

I want to host crafternoons at home, I’d love to create an art supply swap/store, regular creative gatherings elsewhere, join local collage and book arts groups. So rather than post my art into the void where no one sees it besides AI I’m focusing on local, in person gatherings.

I’ll be expanding on all these ideas in the future. Perhaps I’ll even see you in class!
